Day 4 - Cizur Menor to Puente la Reina

How the weather can change, beautiful SUNNY day yesterday & last night the heavens opened and it's still raining this morning.

Cizur Menor is a nice small modern town, but it doesn't seem that anyone eats out, we walked the full length of the town and only found 1 restaurant, but the food was fab. Chippito (baby octopus) salad for starters and Lubina (Sea Bass) for main and of course the medicinal Red wine. Superb.

We leave the town to climb up the hill to the peak of “Higa” @ Monreal. On the left, Tony with one long pole and one short one, bless him. Me, Andrew, on the right (author of this journal)

A short break in the weather didn't last long.

The Camino winds its way through lush farm land with many derelict farm buildings.

We start our climb of appro 1000ft, you can just see the wind turbines at the top in the back ground.

A long slog through heavy rain and a very muddy slippery path, felt like a couple of mountain goats picking our best route up the steep slopes.

Tony (who talks to everyone) didn't get a lot of English back from the dog. The local guy was great.

We reach the summit at the wrought iron representation of the medieval pilgrims. The views of the Somport Pass are stunning.

There is a big sign that says "Don't feed the Donkey“  - I can't take him anywhere.

Only 437 miles to go from this point.

We drop down a very steep and slippery decent into Uterga, a small village with usual ancient church.

We end for the day in Puente La Reina, a pretty town with many small narrow streets and plenty of typical Spanish restaurants.

Our hostel for the night is newly converted, small and cosy (not enough space to swing a cat!).

Now just enjoying one of the specialities of the region, bean and cabbage soup

Our next destination is Estalla approx 20Km
